$12928.00Raised

Welcome to Joan Deitchman's 2012 RAAM Fundraising Page.

In June of 2012 I will be racing over 3000 miles by bicycle in under 13 days in the Race Across America (RAAM).  While what I will be attempting is going to be exceptionally difficult and will challenge me physically, mentally, and emotionally, it pales in comparison to what those with cancer (and their friends & families) have to deal with - they're battling for their lives!  Since I have both friends and family members who have been impacted by Leukemia, I have chosen to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society while training for and competing in RAAM.

My goal is to raise $10,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Donations are tax deductible, and 100% of what you donate goes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  While donations of any amount are accepted, here are some suggested donation levels:

  • $12 - A dollar for every state that I will ride through during RAAM.
  • $30 - A penny for every mile that I will ride during RAAM.
  • $55 - A dollar for every time station that I will pass through during RAAM.
  • $88 - A dollar for every county that I will ride through during RAAM.
  • $100 - A penny for every foot of elevation that I will climb during RAAM.
  • $300 - A dime for every mile that I will ride during RAAM.

To recognize donors, anyone who donates $30 or more can choose a time station to "sponsor".  I will list time station sponsors on my website (www.joandeitchman.com/cause.php), and during the course of the race my crew will recognize the sponsors for each time station on Facebook, Twitter, and my website as we pass through the time station.  After you make your donation you will receive an email containing my email address so that you can send me your time station choice.  The list of time stations can be found at the bottom of this page, but first, here is some additional information about blood cancer and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Every four minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been working for over 60 years to find better treatments and cures for these diseases, and their relentless pursuit of a cure has had a profound impact. Survival rates across all blood cancers have doubled and tripled in the last 20 years. And the survival rate for childhood leukemia has increased from just 4% to over 85% today!

There is no doubt that your support will contribute to more advances, and will save more lives.

Please give as generously as you can. More than 957,000 people living with blood cancers in the U.S. today—some of them are our neighbors and friends—will be as grateful as I will be for your support. Thank you so much!

There is lots more information about The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society available. You can visit their website at www.lls.org, or click on any of the links below to learn more about:
